Are you the bitchiest?

I’d like to predict that this guy is likely going to be on the fifth edition of The Apprentice. When asked about torture of terrorists, others in the interview room at the Pittsburgh interviews were aghast, but not Jason:
“Other countries hate us anyway,” said Jason Kellogg, 30, of Erie. “We might as well torture the [...]

Awwwwwwwww. Woman, call Brian!

Posted by pittgirl on 25 Jul 2005 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

I have a romantical mind, and in my mind Brian and “woman” are single parents that met at the pediatrician and Brian was too nervous to ask her for her number and is now regretting that decision.
“Woman” if you are reading this, call Brian. Unless of course Brian is a weirdo who is into preying [...]

Just trying to put dinner on the table…for my family of 1

Okay, this is the last I’m speaking of the controversial pay raise among the general assembly in the state. I just could not let a quote as ironic as this one go to waste without bringing the snark.
Rep. H. William DeWeese, the State House minority leader said this to the Trib:
DeWeese voted yes, citing the [...]

Posted by pittgirl on 25 Jul 2005 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

So one of my loyal readers (one of the 12 that is) is moving from a big gay-friendly city here to the Burgh and is a bit nervous. Is Pittsburgh considered gay-friendly? For Nat’s sake, let’s find out.
From a forum about gay-friendly cities, someone pipes up with:

Ok, that’s a start. Let’s find out more.
The [...]

“I CAN’T HEAR YOU!”

You know what? Scientology scares the crap out of me. For real.
I have just become obsessed with reading about it and trying to determine what my position is on this “religion” (Thanks bunches, Tom Cruise!). I’ve read mostly first- and second-hand accounts, the scientology web page (no WAY am I linking to that) [...]

Fungi, Fun, Friends

And I thought the Greater Pittsburgh House Rabbit Club was awesomely ridiculous!
I had no idea about the folks at the Western PA Mushroom Club. I mean with a motto of “Fungi, Fun, Friends”, how could that club NOT be awesome!?
Not only do they have a website, they have a newsletter, officers, contests. They also [...]

Yo quiero Beechview!

Posted by pittgirl on 22 Jul 2005 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Oh my God. Don Bell was RIGHT when he said:
“Someone asked, ‘How do we know there aren’t ads in grocery stores in Mexico that say ‘Move to Beechview,’ ” he said.

My friend in Cancun was at Chedraui, the Mexican Supermarket, and saw THIS flyer plastered all over the freakin’ place!

I really just cannot [...]

Annoying Pittsburghers of the Week

Posted by pittgirl on 22 Jul 2005 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

I’m probably going to tread on some toes here, and I’m not even sure who I am naming as the actual Annoying Pittsburgher of the Week. I’m thinking however, it is either a select few residents of Beechview or the president of the Beechview Merchants Association, Mr. Don Bell.
Why?
This:
Don Bell, president of the Beechview Merchants [...]

Nah-uh. Yah-huh! Nah-uh. I’m telling Rendell on you!

Okay, so now the State Police are claiming they will not participate in the $650,000 motorists survey and that they never agreed to it and they just ain’t doing it.
I’m betting a huge chunk of that $650,000 budget was for police salaries for those cops forced to handle the roadside survey-taking. So now that the [...]

Huzzah?

Pennsylvania’s chief justice, who lobbied for a judicial pay raise that state lawmakers passed along with salary increases for themselves and cabinet secretaries, yesterday described opposition to the new law as “knee-jerk.”
“I’ve been watching what’s been happening out there and I’ve been noticing that instead of a reasoned response, I have yet to hear [...]
