Actually, 9/11 affected me and did in many ways alter my own personal life, but I am not one to publicly mourn year after year. I do my part (see Katrina response) and then privately reflect on that which happened five years ago and that which still affects me greatly. You can’t turn on the news today or this entire week and not be confronted with the fact that it’s 9/11. I can’t write a check today without remembering, but you all don’t need PittGirl’s public reflections to remember something so awful and moving. You just need to look inside yourself, mourn, get angry, change or do whatever it is you need to do to pay appropriate respects to those that lost their lives and those that live without their loved ones. I don’t think it makes me any less of a respectful American because I choose to do that privately, rather than through the outlet of my blog.
I guess I’d rather be criticized for that which I am NOT writing, than for that which I am. Peace.
