Lukey is a rock star.

Unofficial results showed Mr. Ravenstahl winning by 63 percent to 35 percent.
“Thank you Pittsburgh!” he shouted to a crowd of fans at the Westin Convention Center Hotel. Responding to someone in the crowd, he said, “I love you, too.”
Fans? Not “supporters” or “backers” or “people forcefully ushered in from the street by Yarone Zober?” He is such a rock star.
Oh, you guys. Don’t be sad. It is not the end of the world, okay?
You knew Lukey was going to win.
I don’t care if the Democrat candidate has a mullet, six teeth (wait, have all of Lukey’s teeth come in yet?), and a criminal record thanks to his penchant for drunkenly throwing bricks over the Parkway East when the Steelers lose … and the Republican candidate is Jesus.
This is Pittsburgh. The old ladies vote in droves and they couldn’t bring themselves to touch a Republican lever/button for all the butterscotch candies in the world.
The only way Lukey will lose is if he loses a primary to another Democrat. Just not Bill Peduto, okay?
Also? Mark DeSantis?:
He said he was “doggone excited and proud” of the result.
OMG. Did he just say doggone? Man, if he became mayor I so would have started the Mark DeSantis Doggone Drinking Game because that is awesome. More awesome? Daggum.

He thanked family, staff, organized labor and his “lovely wife, Erin, who keeps me grounded, who keeps me focused, who keeps me in line.”
Wow. Suddenly I have a picture in my mind of Erin Ravenstahl holding a whip and saying something along the lines of “Bad boy! No more proclamations for you!” She sounds fierce.
Erin Ravenstahl for Mayor 2009!

I bet she’d do something about the pigeons.

Just like the 60s had sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll, and the 70s had bell bottoms and ironed hair, we have a mayor in 2007 who doesn’t remember any of that stuff!! WOOHOO!!

burbchickie, to be fair, even a mayor who lived through the 60s and 70s may not have remembered them.
But your point is taken.

I thought the same thing at reading “doggone”. He also probably mentioned off the record that he was “darn tootin’” that he’d “fix that daggummit meddling kid” Luke Ravenstahl the next time around.
Who would have thought we had a shot at having Yosemite Sam mayor?

“lovely wife, Erin, who keeps me grounded, who keeps me focused, who keeps me in line.”
So now she’s the fall guy? Chief Nate Harper all tapped out? The next time the Mayor is groundless, unfocused and out of line, the media circus is to descend upon HER? Well, if you insist Luke, have it your way …. real sweet setup you’ve got going there.

You vote Democratic forever, you get the government you deserve. Take it from a West Virginian (actually just voted in as the new state motto: “West Virginia: Run by Democrats for 80 years, and all we got are these lousy Hot Spots”).

Pittsburgh will NEVER elect a non democrat because everyone in this town either works for the city or has a relative that works for the city or gets ‘favors’ from the city. They are scared to death to lose any of that.

But… but all we need to do is start believing in Pittsburgh!
Luke SAID SO!
Silly me — here I was, believing in government responsibility and progressive policy this whole time…

So, she “keeps him grounded, keeps him focused, and keeps him in line”?
Imagine what he would be acting like WITHOUT her. Her ancestors must have been can herders.

Trib:
Mr. Ravenstahl, the nation’s youngest big city mayor at 27, campaigned on the “Republicans are baaaaad” platform. Democrat voters, with a 5-to-1 registration edge, chose to follow the bleating sheep like lemmings over a cliff.

As previously stated…”Jesus Christ himself could run as a Republican and not win in this town”.
