1. Mfone was put in jail yesterday for the $600,000 in grafitti damages he has caused. This is notable because today, while he is in jail, his show at the Mattress Factory opens.
On one hand, I’m happy that he’s using a legal outlet for his art, but on the other hand, I would kind of like to show up and tag his work with a red PittGrrrrrrl, just so he can see how it feels when someone marks your property.
At the time, his father defended him as “super nice” and “an amazing painter.”
I assume that as a responsible father who does not want to encourage his son’s illegal activities, that that statement was taken out of context, right?
2. I’m not saying there is a Steelers curse. There is a Steelers curse.
Ernie Holmes, a defensive lineman and member of the famed Steel Curtain for the Steelers in their dynasty years in the 1970s, died last night in a traffic accident in Texas.
3. Somewhere, the Girlcotters are spontaneously combusting. Awesome!
4. Benny filmed an American Idol commercial and I cannot tell you how much I hope that commercial includes a bitch slap from Simon Cowell. Or at the very least Benny serenading Simon with “Unchained Melody.” Or Benny doing MC Skat Kat dance moves with Paula Abdul.
Oh. The possibilities.

Hi, I curated the Mattress Factory show “Illustrations of Catastrophe and Remote Times” that currently features a room of art by Danny Montano. I’m not the first one to notice and won’t be the last, but for the record Danny is a great artist and I’m glad he was able to participate. He was an integral part of the exhibition concept and one of the first few artists I invited to create an installation. I think he rocked it. In addition to writing about his arrest and graffiti, as you’ve done, maybe you could go check out the exhibition and thus by “fostering dialogue” - or whatever you’d like to call it - about this portion you can a) see for yourself and b)encourage venues for constructive artistic production for others.
