Do you guys ever check out the “Out and About” section on the tail end of the New Pittsburgh Courier, Pittsburgh’s Black Newspaper?
It’s a section where Brotha Ash, as he’s called, goes out and about (!) and takes pictures of the social happenings in Black Pittsburgh.
This week, there was a picture that gave me pause.  [...]

A family in Mercer County says they found a spider in a bag of grapes.
Vikki Spencer and her daughter Amanda Masotto, from Sharpsville, believe it was a black widow spider. The arachnid appeared to have the distinctive red hour glass shape on it.
They bought the grapes from a Giant Eagle in Hermitage.
Amanda was washing the grapes [...]

1.  Doing my duty as the next carrier monkey, I obediently spread Texas Death (which may or may not be strep throat.  I refuse to have a throat culture done because I tend to violently shove people that intentionally gag me) right on to Pens Fan Sister whose husband called me yesterday all, “Yeah.  She [...]

1.  Now.  Where were we?
Right.  A few days off for a boosting of the creative juices, a resting of the brain matter, and a gathering of the entire family in celebration for Father of PittGirl’s retirement party, which brought Tina Fey, Ohio Sister, Ta-Ta and their families to town and needless to say, I haven’t [...]

1. One of my BILs gave me a CD he burned of all of David Cook’s American Idol performances, so I spent my drive to work this morning with a giant smile on my face as I jammed with Little Sparrow, rocked with Billy Jean and swayed through Music of the Night. Then [...]

1.  When a co-worker swings by the desk and asks for say, a french fry or perhaps even a handful of chips.  Fine.  Happy to help.  Here ya go.  What’s new with you?  But when a co-worker swings by the desk, sees me eating a cream cheese bagel sandwich and asks me to “cut out [...]

When I saw this image on the front of the PG’s website:

I immediately had two thoughts:

Oh, LaMont. WTF are you trying to make us wear now?
Why is that lady wearing a baby stroller on her head?

And those two questions running through my head are a certified guarantee that I’m clicking on that there link.
So [...]

1. If I’m making any part of this up, may a pigeon poop on my new handbag while I’m waiting for the bus. Yesterday I headed to Sister of PittGirl’s house for a relaxing swim and maybe for some tanning. At one point Sister and I were sitting in the shade under a [...]

Chills

It takes a lot to give me chills.
Bryan Adams singin’ anything.
A pigeon’s last gasping breath.
David Conrad lookin’ at me.
This video.
Chills. I want to find every single one of those screaming lunatics and give them a giant collective jumping up and down for joy hug. That little kid at :37 who was probably [...]

LaMont Jones, the fashion editor of the PG, has an article about mixing up combinations for a two-piece outfit with appeal.
Here’s one of LaMont’s suggestions for an outfit with appeal:

Really?!
LaMont calls this look “sporty and uptown“.  I call it ugly, schmucky, and late eighties used-car dealer.  I mean really.  The sunglasses.  The fedora.  The leather [...]
